Race Origins & Ancient Truths

🧬 Race Origins & Ancient Truths

What you’ve been told is only part of the story. What you believe is likely a lie.

🌍 Overview:

Every race in the Ember Dream tells a story of their origin — proud, noble, cursed, or chosen. But underneath those polished tales lie fragments of truth, and beneath those? Power. Forgotten, hidden, forbidden power.

The following are the whispered truths behind the major racial lineages, as pieced together from fractured lore, prophetic visions, and blood-soaked history.

🌿 The Heartroot Lineage (Druids, Namsae-touched)

Common Belief:
Descended from the Heartroot Tree itself. Chosen by Namsae. Keepers of life, balance, and renewal.

Ancient Truth:
They were not chosen — they were created to be conduits.
Namsae grew them as vessels to carry her dreaming will, but when they became self-aware, she left them — or was bound by them.

Their connection to magic is symbiotic, but that connection was severed when the Heartroot was desecrated. Many are now only echoes of what they once were.

“You are not its children. You are its limbs.”

🗿 The Stoneborn

Common Belief:
Born of mountain and magma. Unmoving. Strong. Loyal to oaths.

Ancient Truth:
Stoneborn are actually the first dragonkind to fall — not in death, but in density.
In an effort to survive a magical war, a sect of dragons anchored their souls into stone to escape death. They did not die — they ossified.

Modern Stoneborn are the descendants of those petrified dragons, walking unknowingly in the bones of their ancestors.

“You do not wear stone. You remember it.”

🔥 The Drakari (Dragonblooded)

Common Belief:
Tainted by dragons. Possess breath magic, scales, or wings. Powerful and arrogant.

Ancient Truth:
Drakari are not tainted — they are the last true dragons, diluted by time.
Their bloodlines stretch back to the Flameborn, but the destruction of the moon shattered their memory. Some carry locked abilities and cannot awaken them until exposed to true dragon magic.

The twins (Ravyn and Talon) carry an unbroken echo of Drakari ancestry from Tharic.

“You are not heirs. You are survivors.”

🌒 The Myrran (Shadow-Touched)

Common Belief:
Born from night, sorrow, and secrets. Masters of stealth and manipulation.

Ancient Truth:
The Myrran were born when the first moon was destroyed. Their bodies, twisted by the absence of lunar balance, became vessels for gravitic distortion.

They are not naturally deceptive — they exist in a state of dimensional fracture, which others interpret as shifting, vanishing, or illusion.

Some ancient Myrran remember the twin moons and believe they are destined to restore balance… or end it entirely.

“You do not hide from the world. The world hides from you.”

⚔️ The Vaelkin (Oathbound)

Common Belief:
Sworn warriors. Rigid in code. Manifest their will as arcane contracts and sigils.

Ancient Truth:
Vaelkin were once the custodians of the Flameforge — divine architects who bound raw creation into form. When one of them tried to shape fate itself using Heartroot magic, they were cursed.

Now they are bound by oaths because their very existence would unravel reality if not contained. Their sigils aren’t weapons — they’re locks.

“You do not swear oaths. Oaths swear you.”

🩸 The Noctari (Vampires)

Common Belief:
Cursed immortals. Born of blood rituals and forbidden magic. Feed on life.

Ancient Truth:
The Noctari were not born — they were made during the fall of the second moon.

They are dragonkind perverted by blood magic, fused with the remnants of the moon’s gravitational essence and flame. The vampire kings used the Heartroot and stolen druidic relics to anchor their souls to eternal night.

The strongest among them still remember being winged, though they dare not speak of it.

“You are not undead. You are misremembered.”

🔥 The Hidden Fusion — The Mirrored Flame

(Ravyn and Talon)

They are not one race. They are all five.

  • Heartroot (via Elaria)

  • Drakari, Stoneborn, Vaelkin, and Myrran (via Tharic)

Their existence is an impossibility, a convergence of origins that should never have survived. And yet here they are — the Mirrored Flame, each echoing half of the world’s truth.

Together, they awaken the world’s forgotten power.
Together, they fulfill — or defy — the Heartroot Prophecy.

“You are not born of one fire. You are forged from all.”
