Drakari of the Blightwing Dragons
“We are the rot that thinks. The bloom that screams. The end that walks.”
The Slaugryn are the corrupted lineage of the Blightwing dragons, and the only Drakari line known to openly spread their corruption rather than hide it. Where others fell, the Slaugryn chose the fall. Descendants of decay, plague, and parasitic bloom, they walk the world like mobile contagions, intelligent blight given flesh.
Slaugryn do not hide what they are. They delight in it.
They are rot incarnate — and proud of it.
Lineage Traits
Name: Slaugryn
Also Known As: Rotkin, Bloomtouched, Carrionbloods
- Ancestry Source: Fallen Blightwing dragons
- Form Traits: Sickly green and bruise-purple scales, pustule-covered wings, fungal growths in place of horns, spore-shedding skin
- Shifting Ability: Their dragon forms drip with infection — bloated, winged carcasses that fly by force of spite and spore clouds
Elemental Affinity
- Primary Element: Decay and blight
- Secondary Traits: Spore magic, toxic bloom, parasitic infestation
- Magical Quirks: Their breath can cause sickness, hallucinations, or aggressive fungal growths; their presence warps nature
Temperament & Culture
- Cunning and cruel, with sharp intellects and darker appetites
- See themselves as the apex evolution — decay as destiny
- Build twisted gardens and corpse-groves in the ruins of cities
- Aesthetic of desecration — they decorate with bone, rust, rot, and bloom
“We don’t destroy. We compost.”
Slaugryn consider entropy a blessing — and call it harvest.
The Dual-Mind
As with all Drakari, the Slaugryn possess two minds — the mortal and the dragon — but unlike others, the Slaugryn have embraced the union.
- The mortal mind curates cruelty
- The dragon mind feeds the fungal god within
- Their harmony is grotesque — a duet of rot and reason
Some Slaugryn even name their inner dragon, treating it as a separate but sacred voice.
Bonding Tendencies
- Matebonds: Deeply intimate and horrifying — involve bloodletting, shared sickness, and symbiotic fungi that link sensations
- Oathbound: Willing conspirators, fully aware and devoted.
- Gains: Disease resistance, sporecraft, ability to move undetected through overgrowth, and the power to wilt or bloom organic matter
- Emotionally fused — often share hallucinations or prophetic rot-dreams
- Chosen: Mindless extensions of the Slaugryn’s will — zombie-like and entirely controlled.
- Will kill loved ones if commanded, with no resistance or remorse
- Often display visible rot, vacant eyes, or fungal protrusions
- Slaugryn are not limited in the number of Chosen they possess — their spores infect and corrupt with ease. The more Chosen they gather, the more powerful they become. And as their power swells, so too do the abilities of their Oathbound and Lifemate.
To be Chosen is to be erased. To be Oathbound is to become.
Unique Traits
- Breath Weapon: Sporeburst — a cone of fungal gas that infects lungs, minds, and sometimes souls
- Rotwalking: Can move freely through corrupted plantlife, merging with vines and bursting from trees
- Fungal Puppeteering: Can reanimate corpses with spore roots — the longer they walk, the less they resemble their past selves
- Aura of Spoilage: Food, water, and even magic left near them for too long begins to decay
Cultural Notes
- Slaugryn reject Namsae — they believe she abandoned evolution by refusing decay
- They host rot festivals, where infected art, dying music, and spore-drenched dances are shared as praise to entropy
- Some Slaugryn believe death is not the end — just a nutrient cycle
“We are not disease. We are renewal. You are what’s being recycled.”
Slaugryn walk the line between madness and mastery, rot and reason.
They are the blight that knows your name.
